Jan Leger, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who earned an MSW degree from the University of Houston. In 26 years of practice, I have worn many hats, including social work education administrator (higher ed), K-12 prevention program development, MSW adjunct professor, mental health crisis and natural disaster response team member, and private practitioner. The last 17 years I have spent working as the Director of Student Affairs and the Director of Academic Affairs for the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work.

Regardless of the setting, my goal is always to help clients reach their full potential by empowering them to set realistic goals, learn problem-solving skills, and develop coping strategies.

Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana I moved to Houston, Texas 30 years ago. I love the big city life! When I am not working, I love to travel. I also enjoy reading historical fiction and mystery novels, watching college football, live music shows, and my new hobby-doing puzzles (thanks Covid!).

I specialize in treating children/adolescents, clients with depression & anxiety, LGBTQ+, eating disorders, substance use/abuse, general stressors and life transitions.

Jan specializes in children, adolescents and adults. Clients with depression & anxiety, substance abuse issues, eating disorders, general life stressors and transitions (grief, divorce, major changes in life circumstances).
