Lisa Landry, LCSW-S

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who earned a Bachelors of Social Work and Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from the University of Texas at Arlington.  I am originally from Lafayette, Louisiana and have lived in and around the DFW area since 1986. I still remain very close and connected to my family in Louisiana and try to visit as often as possible. I've been happily married for 9 years, and although we have no children, we do have 2 amazing dogs, 1 ornery cat, and a spunky kitten named Steve that we love showering with attention.  I'm an avid football fan and usually have to manage my anxiety and frustration when watching the Saints play! I Imagine most football fans understand this.  I also enjoy playing golf when I can, but as I typically joke, I'm a way better therapist than I am golfer.

In my 18 years of practicing social work, I spent 12 years in a local high school as the At-Risk Counselor and 504 Coordinator providing therapy for students, their families, the faculty and staff.  Before finding my place in the school system, I worked at a juvenile justice counseling facility in Dallas providing therapy to runaway youths and their families struggling with family conflicts and behavioral issues.

I began private practice 8 years ago, and have found helping people through this avenue is where I belong and find true fulfillment. My practice has evolved to working with adults and couples who have myriad issues from normal life struggles and stressors to serious mental illnesses.  I have discovered over the years that many people struggle with debilitating anxiety that sometimes can be managed within a few sessions; this gives a person hope, and empowers them to get it completely under control, many times, in a few months or less.  I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners since 2007 to provide clinical mental health services in Texas.

My hope, with every new and existing client, is to build a bond of trust with them and work together towards a common goal of reaching a mentally healthy place in their lives.  I believe my clients are capable of and have the ability to be in charge of reaching their full potential through self-determination and with the proper guidance, encouragement and support a therapeutic relationship has to offer.  I'm empathic, compassionate and understanding, yet straightforward and honest in my approach. My number one goal as a therapist is to help my clients live a life worth living by empowering them to take control of their lives.
