Russell Payne, LPC-S, MEd.
Before earning my licensure and starting my career as a counselor, I spent 8 years as a police officer. Two things I learned as an officer; there are a lot of hurting families out there; and for the children, if we can intervene early and give them the support they need we can change the direction of their lives!
I became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 1996 and since then I have worked part-time private practice in marriage and family, Biblical/Christian Counseling, and with clients who struggle with mood disorders, adjustment disorders, PTSD and other difficulties. As a Christian I believe that my mission is to love first and offer a place of healing and recovery for all who are hurting.
Over the last 23 years my career has been in the school setting working with students with Behavior Disorders, Emotional Disturbances and Autism Spectrum Disorders. While direct services to students has been my specialty, I also work closely with parents, families, school staff and other professionals to bring a team approach to providing growth and strength for our kids.
I consider it an honor and a sacred privilege to be invited into the lives of people when they are in crisis and, sometimes, in a place of high vulnerability. It is also a privilege and honor to be a part of the healing process and to see strength and joy come back into their lives.
Russell specializes in children and adolescents, behavior problems, play therapy, adults, family and marriage counseling, Christian/faith based counseling, men's issues depression and anxiety, and general life stresses and stressors.
